Giuseppe Sala was born in 1958 in Milan, and graduated in Business Administration in 1983 from Bocconi University. Having held senior roles in both the public and private sectors, Giuseppe – known as Beppe – has accumulated a wealth of professional managerial experience. Known for having been at the helm during the 2015 Milan Expo, he had previously occupied high-level positions in international companies, starting with Pirelli and Telecom Italia. In January 2009, he began working in the public sector. Appointed Leader of Milan City Council, he served in that post until he became CEO of the Expo 2015 S.p.A. company in June 2010. In May 2013, he was appointed the government’s Sole Delegated Commissioner for Expo Milano 2015.
His love for Milan and his conviction that he could do something to make it – together with the wider metropolitan city – a fairer, more welcoming and more internationally attractive place led him to take the decision to enter politics.
